In Western European fairy tale literature, the word "fairy" means "sorceress". This word originates from the Latin word "fata" - "fate, spirit, deity of destiny". In ancient Italy, the fates were considered spirits of destiny that appeared in the home... immediately after the birth of a child and brought gifts - magical qualities, invisibility cloaks, chain mail to protect the body, and others. It was believed that the future fate of the baby depended on how the family of the newborn accepted the fates and their gifts. Gradually, the word "fata" began to be pronounced in English as "fairy", in French as "fee", and in German as "Fee". In most legends, fairies appear as a beautiful small-statured woman with wings. Fairies can be both good and evil. They possess the ability to create miracles by uttering magical spells. According to legend, it is easiest to see fairies on the night before the summer solstice when they dance and form circles in the moonlight.
