"So far, so good" - is the second part of a planned trilogy by Gary Schmidt, which began with the novella "Wednesday Wars" (but the main character has changed; in "Wars," Doug Switek played a secondary role). As in the first part, Gary Schmidt explores the life of an ordinary American family in the late 1960s during a period of historical upheavals and wars, intergenerational rifts, powerful civil movements, and the breakdown of the customary way of life. The Vietnam War and the Cold War, civil protests and the "Flower Children" movement, domestic violence and patriarchal values - these are not just historical decorations against which the action of the book takes place.
