One-Eyed Giant. Tales and Legends of Greenland

Talking animals and flying shamans, strong men capable of carrying a whale alone, and poor orphans forced to walk barefoot on the snow, one-eyed giants and ordinary people, adults and children, displaying courage and ingenuity, cunning and dexterity — all this and much more can be found in Greenlandic tales and legends.
These tales have been collected and retold for children by Danish journalist and librarian Gunvor Bjerre. She traveled to many countries, but Greenland forever captured her heart. This is why it was so important for her to introduce children to a piece of the treasure trove of Greenlandic culture — the ancient traditions and myths of the Inuit.
The tales are illustrated by Miki Jacobsen — one of the most famous and recognized artists of Greenland. A distinctive feature of his works is a close connection to Greenlandic nature and culture. Vivid bright watercolors have allowed the legends of the past to take on new colors.
