Nikolka Persik. Anya in Wonderland

This edition comprises two books translated by Vladimir Nabokov in 1920-1923: "Nikolka Persik" ("Kola Bruñon") by Romain Rolland and "Anya in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll. 

Having mastered French and English from childhood, Nabokov began his writing career by tackling two equally challenging works for translation and demonstrated his virtuoso command of the Russian language, managing to recreate the wordplay, imagery, and verses of the originals. 

In this regard, the translation experiments of the future author of "The Gift" and "Ada" reveal the beginnings of his refined literary style. "Nikolka Persik" became, apparently, the first Russian translation of "Kola Bruñon," while "Anya in Wonderland" was recognized as one of the best translations of "Alice" into Russian.
