Yolka Yulka

Yolka Yulka was born in a nursery by the edge of the highway. There, the little fir trees grow so close that their branches almost touch each other. They look up at the sky and dream of growing to be the tallest, the slenderest, to get to some furniture factory. And Yolka Yulka dreamed of lights and fireworks. She dreamt of her branches bending under the weight of ornaments and garlands, while a huge star shined at the top. Yulka wanted to be a New Year tree.
