For many centuries, the genre of oral folk art, such as proverbs and sayings, has formed a kind of encyclopedia of wisdom, reflecting the centuries-old experience of humans in every sphere of their life and activity - from household matters... to philosophy and psychology, from medicine to morality.
For many millennia, humans have preserved and passed on their life experience to others only orally, from person to person, from generation to generation. Since, before the advent of writing, folk wisdom - which is precisely what is contained in proverbs and sayings - existed only in the memory of people, one had to rely solely on memory. Hence, the brightness of images, comparisons, and metaphors in proverbs and sayings.
