The idea for the science fiction novella "The Lost World" came to Arthur Conan Doyle after meeting with his friends - Percy Fawcett and Edwin Lankester, who told the writer about their expedition to the mountains located on the border of Bolivia and Brazil. Arthur Conan Doyle was so impressed by what he heard that he immediately began writing the novella, which was hugely successful: it was translated into many languages and has been filmed multiple times.
