The Lost World

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is known to readers primarily as the author of the book about the famous private detective Sherlock Holmes. In 1912, Arthur Conan Doyle's science fiction novella "The Lost World" was published, about a dangerous expedition led by Professor Challenger to the Amazon delta to prove the existence of prehistoric creatures. The idea for the science fiction novella "The Lost World" came to Arthur Conan Doyle after meeting with his friends - Percy Fawcett and Edwin Lankester, who told the writer about their expedition to the mountains located on the border of Bolivia and Brazil. Arthur Conan Doyle was so impressed by what he heard that he immediately began writing the novella, which was hugely successful: it was translated into many languages and has been filmed multiple times.
