Wild Cities

In cities, there is a place for wildlife, and it is more present than it seems at first glance. On the pages of this book, readers will visit different cities in Russia along with the authors and learn about the wild plants and animals that inhabit them – sometimes quite close to us. Traveling from Kaliningrad to Sakhalin, we will talk about those who run, fly, or crawl past our homes. Moreover, we will learn together how to resolve conflicts between humans and wildlife, how green spaces help make the climate in the city more comfortable, and why "hotels" for insects are needed. We will get acquainted with birdwatching and biomimicry, visit botanical gardens and natural science museums, and most importantly – we will figure out how to make the city comfortable and safe for both people and our wild neighbors.
