Tales of Russian Heroes

How many Russian heroes were there? Of course, many more than three… But few today can boast that they know at least a small part of the legends about their feats, which do not yield in grandeur and beauty to the myths of Ancient Greece. The book contains twenty tales about Russian heroes: not only about the noble trio of our domestic Herculeses — Ilya Muromets, Alyosha Popovich, and Dobrynya Nikitich, but also about other glorious heroes. Listen to the stories — about the peasant craftsman Kirill, about the seven-year-old Mikhaylyatka, about the mighty and cunning Tarakan, and even about Fila, the daughter of the Ryazan voivode... The book is illustrated with two hundred original works by Russian painters — Viktor Vasnetsov and Mikhail Nesterov, Andrey Ryabushkin and Klavdiy Lebedev, and many other masters of the genre. There is a small story about them in the appendix. Also included are information about the collectors and authors of the legends and tales that are part of the collection.
