Against Anxiety: The EMDR Methodology

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. A person thinks about a traumatic memory while quickly moving their eyes left and right. And emotions are "erased." This is one of two officially recognized WHO methodologies, its author is F. Shapiro. Worldwide, emergency psychologists and rescue services use EMDR technique to help people out of shock states during mass disasters. However, this method is also applicable to more common stresses, fears, and unpleasant memories: infidelity, memories after surgeries, rape, fights, fears of dogs, heights, airplanes, elevators, dentists, darkness, fear of falling ill — any phobia can be processed. The book is primarily aimed at ordinary readers, therefore it contains a large number of visual illustrations of all exercises.
