This tale can and should be read even by adults. It is about how hungry bears descended from the mountains into the valley in Sicily and began to fight with people. Or rather, this tale is about how, when faced with a human, even a bear cannot resist the temptation of power, deceit, and greed.
This allegorical book, both political and poetic, was written over 70 years ago by the renowned Italian writer Dino Buzzati. In his homeland, he is rightly considered one of the outstanding national authors of the 20th century. His books are included in Borges' library, and Lemony Snicket acknowledges that "The Incredible Invasion of Bears in Sicily" is one of his favorite childhood books. The book is also valued for the unique illustrations created by Dino Buzzati himself, as he was a distinctive artist.
This book by Buzzati was first published in Russian by "Samokat" back in 2005.
One of the reasons for its re-release was the news that a renowned contemporary illustrator, Lorenzo Mattotti, is making an animated film based on the book.
In 2020, the animated film will be released worldwide.
