Board game - Ratatopolis

You happily live in the city of Ratatopolis and enjoy your rat life with your large family. However, in the city, besides you, there are other rat families, and sometimes it is not easy to coexist and share all the... pieces of cheese. Unfortunately, your rat happiness did not last long. There were so many rats that the residents of Ratatopolis called in the famous rat-catcher Baltus and his cats.

In the game "Ratatopolis," you will need to hide from the rat-catcher Baltus and his cats, take risks: stay in your familiar area or run away, pushing aside your neighbors. Plan your movements and attacks on other rat families, as control over certain territories can become your tactical advantage. But the most important thing in every rat's life is cheese! The player who collects the most cheese at the end of the game becomes the winner.

The game lasts for 8 rounds. Each round consists of 5 consecutive phases.
1. Hunting card draw
Players receive one hunting card each and place hunting cards on the hunter's board. This way, each player knows in which area Baltus' cat might appear.
2. Action planning
Players plan two actions for the current round. For this, each player writes down two actions on a piece of paper. In each of the two slots, the player can write one of three possible actions: attack an opponent's rat, move a group of rats, or remain idle. In this round, it's better to use a screen to keep players from discovering each other's plans.
3. Action execution
Players remove the screens and simultaneously perform the actions they wrote down earlier. First, all planned attacks occur, followed by all planned movements.
4. Cat hunting
The hunting cards dealt to players at the beginning of the round, as well as the cards on the hunter's board, are shuffled face down, the top card is revealed and placed on the player's board in the current round area. The building tile that corresponds to the revealed card is attacked by Baltus' cats. The building tile is removed, and the rat figures return to their owners.
5. Distribution of building property tokens
If one of the players has an advantage on the building tile, they receive a property token for that building, which they can use later.
After all phases are completed, the round ends and a new one begins.
The game ends after phase 4 in the 8th round. Players count the amount of cheese their rat families managed to save. The player with the most cheese wins.
