Lina. The Adventures of an Architect

She was born in 1914 in Rome. She dreams of becoming an architect, although it is practically impossible—life around her seems calm: World War I is underway, and Mussolini comes to power. But she does not give up on her... dream, being convinced that architecture cannot exist without people.

Therefore, the girl dedicates herself entirely to her studies and design. Lina receives higher education and moves to Milan to work in the studio of Gio Ponti. During World War II, she leaves for Brazil, where she meets other famous architects.

Lina Bo Bardi—a Brazilian modernist architect and designer of Italian descent—became a significant figure in the world of art and architecture of the 20th century. She inspired Angela Leon to create this magnificent illustrated biography, from which you will learn not only about Lina herself but also about her most famous projects—the São Paulo Art Museum (MASP), the Modern Art Museum of Bahia (MAMB), and the SESC Pompeia cultural center.
