The Girls

The story "The Girls" brought fame to Boris Bedny, translated into fifteen foreign languages and became the basis for the eponymous film. The film "The Girls," released in 1961 and directed by Yuri Chulyukin, is well-known in Russia, featuring main... roles played by Nadezhda Rumyantseva and Nikolai Rybnikov. This cheerful comedy about love in a remote logging village in the Urals not only captivated audiences across the Soviet Union but also won several prestigious awards at international film festivals. However, the story "The Girls" differs significantly from the famous film: the characters' personalities are explored more deeply, the harsh life in the distant village is portrayed much more realistically, and there are even significant differences in the plot.
