The book presents selected stories from the ancient collection of Indian fables "Panchatantra," one of the best examples of prose written in classical Sanskrit.
The text of the fables is adapted using Ilya Frank's method.
In the book, the text of the... work in the original language is repeated twice: first with lexical-grammatical commentary and a literal translation of some phrases, then without any hints. Beginners studying the language are recommended to first familiarize themselves with the commented text, and then move on to the original. Those who already have experience reading in a foreign language should do the opposite: read the text without comments and hints, while occasionally referring to the adapted version to control their understanding of what they have read. After some time, the learner will be able to read fluently in the original language, will memorized many words and expressions without cramming, and will get used to the rules of using grammatical constructions in the natural functioning of the language.
The book is an excellent teaching aid for all who study a foreign language, regardless of their proficiency level. This book will help you overcome an important barrier: you will acquire vocabulary and get used to the logic of the language, saving a lot of time and effort. However, after reading it, do not stop; continue to read in the foreign language (now just occasionally glancing at the dictionary)!
