Pollyanna

The writer Eleanor Porter (1868—1920) is known for immortalizing the main character of her eponymous book (1913) Pollyanna. The girl who invented the "Glad Game" was enthusiastically welcomed by readers and critics. This book remains a bestseller to this day. Little Pollyanna, who lost her parents, goes to live with her Aunt Polly and brings her own changes to the life of the small town: she teaches the residents the "Glad Game" — the ability to find something good even in the worst events and to rejoice in the simple and ordinary things that in the hustle and bustle of everyday life we often overlook.
