Sleeping Dogs

In spring 2024, the film by Adam Cooper "Sleeping Dogs" is released in worldwide and Russian cinemas — a long-awaited adaptation of the novel by Eugen Ovidiu Chiricuta "The Book of Mirrors" (translated into 39 languages, recognized as "the brightest... literary debut of 2017") starring Russell Crowe and Karen Gillan in the leading roles. New York literary agent Peter Katz receives a submission for the publication of an autobiography titled "The Book of Mirrors." Attached to the submission is the beginning of the manuscript — a certain Richard Flynn recalls his years studying at Princeton, his first love, and working for the famous psychology professor Joseph Weder. These events from 25 years ago had a tragic outcome; however, the criminal remained unfound and unexposed; now, Richard suddenly sees everything that happened in a different light, reassessing the role of his former beloved Laura Baines... but the manuscript ends mid-sentence. Intrigued, Peter tries to obtain the rest of "The Book of Mirrors," but the manuscript proves to be as elusive as the truth about what happened a quarter century ago... "Sleeping Dogs" ("The Book of Mirrors") is a mystery novel in the spirit of Marisha Pessl's "Night Film." It is a book about how imagination unconsciously substitutes reality.
