About Lovecraft
Howard Phillips Lovecraft was born on August 20, 1890, in Providence, the capital of Rhode Island – the smallest state in America. His father was traveling salesman Winfield Scott Lovecraft, and his mother was Sarah Susan Phillips, an overly caring and gravely ill woman. As the future master of horror from Providence grew up, he was likely burdened by his mother's illness and the shadow of death that hung over the home. The world of his obsessive fantasies took shape slowly but surely. He was initially an amateur journalist, engaging in extensive correspondence with other writers before he began to create independently.Lovecraft's characteristic dark imagery was revealed in his very first mature story – "The Tomb." However, the Cthulhu Mythos emerged only in 1926 when the writer created a cosmic pantheon of nightmarish monsters that would immortalize him among future generations. The spirit of decay and degeneration permeates Arkham, Dunwich, Innsmouth, Kingsport – dark cities of degenerates, lunatics, and wickedness. Lovecraft's tales are dark and hopeless. Few of his contemporaries managed to achieve such flights of imagination and craft an indescribable atmosphere of horror and helplessness against the ancient…
How to play?
Players manage character actions through their investigator deck. Scenarios lead the campaigns, offering an intriguing adventure. Each round begins with the Myth phase. During this phase, a token of terror is placed on the agenda card, and each player draws a card from the contact deck. If a curse is on the game card, a check is made against the skill indicated on the curse, and if you fail, some negative effect is triggered. If a monster is on the card, it attaches to the investigator, and they must either fight it or try to slip away.
Then, the Investigation phase occurs, where players can take 3 actions from the available options in any order:-Draw a card-Gain resources-Activate an action from a previously laid card-Summon a monster to themselves-Attempt to evade the monster-Attack the monster-Attempt to gather clues-Move to another location-Play a card from hand for resources-After players' turns, the Monsters phase begins. There are many different opponents, some enemies move toward the heroes, and those that have already approached attack, automatically inflicting horror and wounds on the investigators.-At the end of the round, the Rest phase occurs, during which all players draw a card and gain one resource.
Who won?Since the game is team-based, all players win or lose together. Players progress through the scenario and reach the climax. Some of them are more favorable and can be considered a victory. Others leave the investigators in complex and dangerous positions. Specific moments and consequences are directly tied to the particular scenario.
LGC – Living Card GameSuch games depart from the traditional model of Collectible Card Games and use a fixed card distribution method in sets. Living Card Games possess all the benefits of CCGs: they are equally dynamic, diverse, and evolving games, but they lack the necessity to navigate a vast array of expansions and rely on luck when obtaining cards from boosters. You can always diversify and enhance your gaming experience by purchasing expansions that have a fixed card composition, meaning there are no boosters and random cards.
Number of players: 1–4.
