The wooden puzzle "Part and Whole" helps the child master these categories, which will later facilitate understanding the principle of working with fractions in math lessons.
The game will teach the child to divide a whole into various parts, as well as indirectly introduce the concept of a fraction. By comparing the number of segments that the puzzle strips and circles are divided into with the numerical values depicted on them, the little one will be able to understand what a fraction is and how it is formed.
How to play?
You need to correctly assemble all the pieces on the playing field so that the fractions in all the recesses sum up to a whole number 1.
The puzzle visually demonstrates the formation of fractions using rectangular and circular pieces. The rectangular piece with the whole number 1 occupies the entire row and is fundamental. The other rows are divided into 2, 3, or 4 parts, presented as pieces with a specific fractional value.
The circular piece is also represented in its whole form and split into 2, 3, and 4 parts.
It's easy to remove the pieces from the puzzle frame thanks to special notches for little fingers – semi-circular recesses in the frame.
The game is made from 7 mm thick birch plywood. The pieces are carefully sanded and have rounded corners to avoid splinters and other injuries during play. The numbers are applied to the surface of the plywood using direct printing technology, which helps the images retain their brightness longer.
The wooden puzzle "Part and Whole" forms basic skills in oral counting, understanding of the concepts "fraction", "whole", and "part", as well as developing logical thinking and fine motor skills.
