Work on a Role

This publication includes preparatory materials for the unrealized book by Stanislavsky "Work on a Role," which was supposed to conclude the cycle of major works on the "system" and indicate ways to master stage craft. Using examples from "Woe from Wit," "Othello," and "The Government Inspector," the author analyzes stages of preparation such as becoming acquainted with the role, creating and animating external and internal circumstances, and the period of experiencing what happens to the character.
