This publication presents preparatory materials for the unrealized book by Stanislavsky "Working on a Role," which was supposed to complete the cycle of main works on the "system" and indicate ways to master stagecraft. Using examples from "Woe from Wit,"... "Othello," and "The Inspector General," the author analyzes such stages of preparation as getting to know the role, creating and bringing to life external and internal circumstances, and the period of experiencing what is happening with the character.
