The letters of Vincent Van Gogh are an amazing document that has attracted deserved interest and love from readers for a hundred years since the first publication. This is a rare case where literary talent, the originality of character, and the scale of the author's personality have been complemented by truly dramatic twists of his biography, reflected in these personal texts. The biography is legendary - just like everything associated with the name of Vincent Van Gogh. The total volume of correspondence preserved to this day is enormous - more than nine hundred letters. We present the most complete anthology currently available in Russian, which includes one-third of the total number of Vincent Van Gogh's letters, specifically those that mention the most significant events of his biography and where he formulates his life and artistic views or comments on his work. All letters are published uncut and translated from the facsimile of the original. The collection includes letters dated from 1872 to 1890, the texts of which give us the opportunity to follow in Van Gogh's footsteps on the astonishing path that made him the author of masterpieces known all over the world.
