Tales and Legends

The publication «Tales and Legends» includes the tales, legends, and parables of Leonardo da Vinci, a recognized genius, scientist, writer, inventor, and artist, whose works are still studied with interest by humanity today. The book presents stories about a variety of animals and even fantastical creatures — basilisk, salamander, siren… Clear and accessible, these stories are also very multifaceted and profound, giving the reader a reason to reflect on the most important things: life, good, and evil. Through them, Leonardo da Vinci shares his understanding of the surrounding world with the reader.
The book includes a translation and a preface by Alexander Borisovich Makhov — a historian of literature and art, holder of the gold medal of the Italian Republic «For Mastery in Translating Italian Poetry».
