White Snows Are Falling...

"The poet in Russia is more than a poet." These words can characterize the author of these lines, Yevgeny Yevtushenko. Being one of the most outstanding and ambiguous figures on the world poetic scene of the last century, he inspired... many, astonished others, irritated some, but, as Bulat Okudzhava accurately noted, he was "a whole era."
His civic, social, and love lyrics, through which one can study both the history of the country and the fate of several generations, are an epic view of the rebellious twentieth century. Yevtushenko's poems, captivating with their sincerity, passion, and free unshackled thinking, have not lost their relevance to this day, and many have been set to music and become beloved songs.
