Trauma and the Work of Imagination. Selected Articles

In these articles, a Hungarian analyst addresses the study of trauma issues and the imaginative play associated with traumatic experiences. According to S. Ferenczi, the foundation of human sexuality and anxiety is the regressive desire to return to the mother's womb - to the "sea," while the connection between trauma and the work of imagination depends on the shame of helplessness, fragmentation, and the feeling of one's unfamiliarity, invariably generated by trauma. For Plato, shame is the "color of virtue," as it makes human connections extremely necessary and valuable. Without it, we all become victims of narcissistic regression, envy, and secret despair, which threaten human relationships, and without them, life becomes empty.
