Trauma and the Work of Imagination. Selected Articles

In these articles, Hungarian analyst addresses the study of the issues of trauma and the associated imaginative play of traumatic experience. According to S. Ferenczi, the basis of human sexuality and anxiety is the regressive desire to return to the... mother's womb - to the "sea", while the connection between trauma and the work of imagination depends on the shame of helplessness, fragmentation, and the feeling of one's own unrecognizability, invariably engendered by trauma. For Plato, shame is the "color of virtue", as it makes human connections extremely necessary and valuable. Without it, we all become victims of narcissistic regression, envy, and secret despair, which threaten human connections, and without them, life becomes empty.
