Their goal is to save a talented inventor who is destined to die during the storming of a small town by the Livonian knights. The tale "The Abduction of the Sorcerer" was first published in 1979 and has since been reissued multiple times and adapted into film twice. The collection also includes the stories "Tsaritsin's Key" and "Hercules and the Hydra."
