Anna Vyrubova: Memoirs
Anna Vyrubova 1884-1964 daughter of the chief manager of His Imperial Majesty's Own Office A. S. Taneev, lady-in-waiting and closest friend of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. The book includes Vyrubova's memoirs Pages of My Life, letters to her from members of... the royal family, as well as excerpts from the so-called Diary of Vyrubova. For the first time, the memoirs of lady-in-waiting Anna Vyrubova Pages of My Life were published in the magazine Russian Chronicles Paris, 1922. Five years later, on the tenth anniversary of the revolution, the Soviet magazine Past Days began publishing the Diary of Vyrubova, a work of extremely vulgar form and vile content. The former lady-in-waiting herself repeatedly claimed the falsity of these notes. The authors of the false Vyrubova diary are traditionally considered to be literary critic and historian P. E. Shchegolev and writer A. N. Tolstoy.
