Peter the Great

Alexei Nikolaevich Tolstoy (1883–1945) — Russian Soviet writer, author of historical, fantastic, socio-psychological stories, novels, and novellas. He was one of the most "titled" writers of his time – a laureate of three First Class Stalin Prizes. "Peter the Great"... (1933–1945) — a historical novel that covers events in Russia from 1682 to 1704. Alexei Tolstoy began work on the piece in 1929 and wrote until his death. The author did not manage to bring the narrative in the novel to the end of the reign of the first Russian emperor. This is "…the first true historical novel in our literature.
