The name of Jacob Grimm is well known to both adults and children. After all, Jacob is one of the famous storytellers — the Brothers Grimm, but he became famous as a researcher of German culture and mythology. Jacob Grimm's fundamental work is still considered "foundational and largely unrivaled." Speaking about German paganism, Grimm shows readers little-known rituals and explains their essence. The articles and chapters are devoted to the philological, historical, folkloristic, and poetic aspects of pre-Christian German religions. The sources used by the author vary by era and geographical attribute. The translation of "German Mythology" by Jacob Grimm and the comments on it, made by Dmitry Kolchigin, were awarded the German Translation Prize "Merck" in 2020 in the category of popular science literature.
