The End of Times

He has led several major ecological projects and made particularly significant contributions to the development of mathematical models of... "century-long" socio-demographic cycles. It was P.V. Turchin who first proposed the concept of "cliodynamics." In his book "The End of Times," Pyotr Turchin warns society about some key social and political trends foreboding a decade of civil unrest and conflict, wars, and poverty. The fundamental problems of today's social ills have three sources: "overproduction of elites," a decline in the overall standard of living, and the inability of governments to meet their obligations. It is these reasons that lead contemporary society to its inevitable "end of times," after which new cycles of political integration and disintegration always follow.
