"Widow's Steamboat" is a tale of love and friendship, of youth and old age, of women's fate and the conflict between parents and children, of illness and death, of cruelty and mercy: human dramas – both small and large –... unfold in the confined space of a post-war Moscow communal apartment, where fate has brought together five women who became widows early, each very different in their past and in their social and cultural status. They call their home – their world – the "widow's steamboat".

"Break". Head of the therapeutic department Kira Petrovna Reyutova – a kind, caring, and responsive doctor. An unfortunate fall in Moscow during a business trip, and now she finds herself with a serious fracture in the trauma department of a foreign hospital. The transformation from doctor to patient not only reveals the hospital reality from a different angle but also completely changes her outlook on life.
