After graduating from university, Hauff became a tutor for the children of Baron Ernst von Hügel. It was for them that he wrote his first fairy tales, including the tale "Little Muk," which was published in 1826. The following year, a second collection of fairy tales was released, which included "Dwarf Nose." Hauff traveled a lot during his lifetime, and his fairy tales intricately intertwine European and Eastern motifs, transporting readers into a world of wonders.
