The ability to read minds is either a gift or a curse. Probably the latter, as the duty of every telepath is to serve in the Consortium and obey its laws. However, there are those who try to resist the... cruel system.
Liam Aldridge is assigned as a military medic on a ship, unaware that he has been hiding his telepathic abilities all his life. He grew up in a loving family, where he learned what friendship and affection are. That is why, when the Consortium starts a war for power, Liam, by fate's design, becomes a symbol of resistance.
He is helped by another psychic, Megan Williams, who was raised to be a useful unit for the Consortium, without family, friends, or loved ones. She learns to be human and live in a society that sees her as an equal.
