First Reading. Short Tales and Stories

The book includes stories, fables, and tales by the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy, addressed to children: «The Bone», «The Foundling», «The Old Horse», «The Equal Inheritance», «The Lion and the Mouse» and others. They were created in the early 1870s for the students of the school organized by Tolstoy in Yasnaya Polyana, and are loved by many generations of children.
