On the Threshold of the New Testament

Archpriest Alexander Men — an outstanding figure of the Russian Orthodox Church, preacher, theologian, enlightener, author of dozens of books on the history of religion, the foundations of Christian doctrine, and Orthodox worship. The book «On the Threshold of the New Testament» was first published in 1983 in Brussels and only ten years later was released in the author's homeland. In it, Alexander Men addresses the history of humanity's spiritual quests before the Christian era, narrating in an accessible form about Greek skeptics and hermits, Roman Stoics, mystics and sages of India and Israel — about different paths and stages of the development of religious faith; the last section of the book is devoted to the prelude of the Savior's coming — the world of future apostles and evangelists. This work by Archpriest Alexander Men has not lost its relevance even today.
