Wilhelm Hauff (1802-1827) - a famous German storyteller, was born into the family of a Prussian foreign ministry official and a noblewoman from Alsace. The boy was only 7 years old when his father passed away, and the family moved... to his grandfather's estate in the city of Tübingen. The enormous library became the favorite place of little Wilhelm, and the books became his best friends. After graduating from university, Hauff began working as a tutor in the family of the Minister of Defense - General Baron von Högel. It was for his little pupils that Wilhelm began to write fairy tales. The magical tales of W. Hauff were first published in the Fairy Tales Almanac of January 1826 for the sons and daughters of the noble classes and immediately found many admirers. During Hauff's lifetime, two collections of his fairy tales were published; another collection was published by his wife three years after his death. This book includes two popular tales by Hauff - Dwarf Nose and The Tale of the Caliph of the Stork. They not only surprise the young reader with incredible and sometimes dangerous wonders but also teach him lessons of wisdom and compassion, strengthening his belief in the justice of the world and the inevitable victory of good over evil. The boy Jakob, the hero of the tale Dwarf Nose, is punished for his boldness and disrespect towards an old woman - and he is faced with extraordinary transformations and a long separation from his parents. The hero has to endure mockery and humiliation; however, in Jakob's heart, responsiveness and compassion for those around him awaken - and these qualities ultimately help him break the evil spells and find happiness. The Tale of the Caliph of the Stork also tells of magical transformations and wonders and also has a happy ending, although the heroes, of course, have to go through remarkable trials. This fairy tale teaches readers to never give up, not to neglect rules and prohibitions, and, of course, to take responsibility for their words and actions. For junior school age. The texts of the works are provided without abridgment.
