This adventurous tale belongs to the pen of French writer Adolphe Badin (1831-1898), whose works for children were so popular in the 19th century that they were translated into several European languages. The illustrations for the book were created by French artist Léon Benett (1839-1916).
After the death of his parents, the twelve-year-old protagonist sets off with his two little brothers to the distant and mysterious Algeria in search of their uncle - a brave lion hunter...
