It is essential for an artist to know anatomy in order to accurately draw the human body both at rest and in motion. Mastering the art of depicting the body on paper will be aided by the book of experienced... anatomical illustrator Jennifer Krauch. "Anatomy for Artists" is the perfect illustrated guide for both beginners and more experienced artists looking to improve their technique. In this practical manual, the author demonstrates how the human body functions, starting from how the bones of the skeleton connect to each other, and ending with the principles of muscle and tendon operation. The illustrator will also teach you how to create desired shapes and tones, how to achieve realistic skin texture, and how to convincingly reflect diverse poses, gestures, and movements of people. Step-by-step lessons will help you easily create accurate and realistic drawings. The book includes the following sections: • Anatomical Terms • Formal Elements of Drawing • Lines, Strokes, and Textures • Shape, Figure, and Volume • Perspective and Anatomical Drawing • Tone and Shadow • Texture • Contour, Pose, and Gestures • Proportions of the Human Body • Anatomy: Skeleton • Musculoskeletal System • Muscles and Bones of Limbs • Skin and Subcutaneous Fat • Torso • Functional Descriptions in Anatomy • Anatomy of the Face and Skull • Muscles of the Mouth Area • Teeth and Jaw • Eye • Ear • Nose • Hair • Movement • Portrait "Anatomical drawing is far more than shape, function, and ideal proportions. In this book, I have attempted to showcase anatomy in all its vast beauty and provide descriptions of various techniques that can help artists learn to draw human bodies. Just as there is no right or wrong anatomy, there is no right or wrong way to reflect it. Realism is certainly not the only way to draw anything: abstract doodles, minimal strokes, or expressive childlike sketches can also capture the nuances of personality. The practical advice presented in this book will assist in developing what some call 'technical,' 'realistic,' or even 'academic' drawing," – Jennifer Krauch About the Author Jennifer Krauch is an educator, researcher, and artist.
