With a Preface and Comments by Aleister Crowley.
"Goetia" is a guide to magic from the so-called "Solomonic" books (i.e. grimoires attributed to the ancient King Solomon). It describes the ritual preparations, tools, and spells necessary for summoning 72 spirits. This...
book came into being thanks to the efforts of two of the most influential magicians of the late 19th - early 20th centuries: Aleister Crowley and MacGregor Mathers. It was first published in 1904. Crowley accompanied it with comments and additions, including his essay "Ceremonial Magic from the Perspective of the Adept," which largely predetermined the subsequent development of occult philosophy.
This edition retains all the features of the 1904 version, but the material is supplemented with engravings by Louis Breton and several illustrations by Aleister Crowley. The edition also includes corrected versions of the "Preliminary Invocation" and spells in Enochian, tables of correspondences for the spirits, and Crowley’s comments. The appendix contains recommendations for Goetic workings and reports on them from contemporary magicians. In the editorial preface by Hymenaeus Beta, Outer Head of O.T.O., the place of this grimoire in the "Solomonic" tradition is defined.
