The epic novel in two volumes "Time of Troubles," created in 1980–1982 by the prose writer, publicist, translator, and researcher of the folklore heritage of the Kazakhs Mukhtar Magauin, tells about the events of the late 16th and early 18th... centuries in the Kazakh steppe and Moscovia, about the first attempts to establish friendly relations between the two peoples. In 1594, the first embassy from the Kazakh steppes arrived in Moscow. The intermediaries were Sultan Oraz-Muhamed and the remarkable scholar, thinker Qadirgali Jalaire. Their missions and the astonishing fate of Oraz-Muhamed, who participated in the campaigns of the Russian army against the Swedes and the Crimean Tatars and for special merits was granted the Kasimov Khanate by Boris Godunov, are dedicated to the first book of the duology.
