Henry Kuttner is primarily known to the domestic reader as a master of the ironic fantasy short story. Many have fallen in love with the unmatched mutants of Hogben, the equally brilliant and fond of strong drinks inventor Gallagher, and many other characters, partly due to which the Golden Age of American science fiction became, in fact, «golden». However, Kuttner's literary fate was not linear at all; he published under many pseudonyms in magazines of very diverse thematic orientations. This collection includes works in the genres of mysticism and horror, which constitute a significant part of his legacy. Even Kuttner's very first story, — «Cemetery Rats» — was written in a gothic style. The author was acquainted with the celebrated Howard Phillips Lovecraft and, along with his wife, writer Catherine Moore, was part of the «Lovecraft Circle» — and the novellas related to the universe of the «Cthulhu Mythos» are also included in this book. Most of the works are published in Russian for the first time or in a new translation.
