Chinese Language. Self-Study Guide

This self-study guide is intended for those who are learning Chinese independently. It helps develop the speaking skills needed for communication and reading simple literature, and to master the basics of grammar: the self-study lessons familiarize the learner with both... the grammatical peculiarities of the language and commonly used conversational vocabulary. Once mastered, one can easily handle any situation when directly communicating with residents of China. For quick memorization of common speech constructs, carefully read the dialogues and the additional vocabulary material, which is accompanied by transliteration (the thematic list is provided in the table of contents). In each lesson of the self-study guide, you will find descriptions of lexical-grammatical categories of parts of speech, exercises for memorizing the studied material, texts that use active speech structures. To check the exercises completed, answer keys are provided at the end of the book. The lessons of the self-study guide are supplemented by a dictionary, which can be used for translating unfamiliar words found in the exercises. The book also includes information of a country-specific nature, which will undoubtedly be useful during travel in China.
