The book "The Blockade Hippo and the Girl" is based on real events. In 1941, fascist Germany invaded our homeland. The Great Patriotic War began. A girl named Galya lived in Leningrad with her dad, mom, and brother. She finished the first grade and was planning to go to the village to her grandmother. But everything turned out differently. The fascists surrounded the city, and it was impossible to deliver food and medicine to the city's residents. Bombings began, hunger struck, and a harsh frosty winter set in. Ration cards began to issue only 125 grams of bread. The residents of Leningrad were saved by the "Road of Life," which ran across the ice of Lake Ladoga. Through it, flour, cereals, and sugar were brought into the city, and on the return trips, women and children were evacuated to the rear.
