The heroes of French fairy tales never feel despair: they can outsmart the devil, dance with gnomes, and even deal with the Spirit of the Night. Here, no one is surprised by golden chariots racing across the sky, the devil knocking on the door, a flying horse being found in any count's stable, and witches living almost next door. Artist Nika Goltz completely blurs the line between the world of humans and the world of magical beings: her golden carriages resemble enchanted pumpkins, the flying horse nonchalantly carries the count to the constellation of the Three Virgins, and the royal castle easily fits on the deck of a ship.
