Yoga as a Path to Freedom

The subject of the first part of this collection is Raja Yoga, according to which the external world is only a coarse form of the internal. Thus, the external world is a consequence, while the internal is the cause. He who has learned to cope with internal forces will gain control over all of nature. The science of Raja Yoga provides humanity with means for observing mental states, and the tool for this is the mind itself. The second part discusses Bhakti Yoga — a practice devoted to the search for God. For a person to approach God, Knowledge (Jnana), Love (Bhakti), and the Yoga that supports their balance are necessary. A personality in which they are harmoniously blended represents the noblest type; however, not everyone is given to possess all of them in this life, and those who must limit themselves to only Bhakti should remember that forms and rituals are undoubtedly necessary for the perfection of the soul.
