Summer in Michaluwka and Wilhelmuwka

The stories of Janusz Korczak «Summer in Michaluwka» and «Summer in Wilhelmuwka» were first published in Warsaw more than a hundred years ago, and it is striking how relevant they remain, how the style and ideas of Korczak have not... aged over time. One longs to experience those summer «colonies»-camps together with the children: to fight for the right to eat a sockeye salmon, to participate in a friendly trial, to build ships in trees, to gather a basket of mushrooms, or to listen before sleep to the very stories of that very Janusz Korczak. For that is happiness! Happiness is not only being a child but also being close to a child, learning to understand them and trying together with them to understand this not always happy «adult» world.
The story «Summer in Michaluwka» is published in the classic translation by Kinga Sienkiewicz, the story «Summer in Wilhelmuwka», as well as the eighth chapter from the story «Summer in Michaluwka» is published in Russian for the first time in the translation by Victoria Fedorova. The delicate illustrations for the book were made by Kasia Denisiewicz, making the book look almost like a diary of Korczak himself.
