In 1899, Charles Baudelaire wrote the collection "Petits poemes en prose. Le Spleen de Paris" - "Prose Poems. Parisian Spleen". The great poet continues the genre tradition already represented in French literature at the end of the 18th - beginning... of the 19th centuries in the works of E. Parny and A. Bertrand. "Prose Poems" is a series of small pieces that reflect Baudelaire's soul. It is his "I, insatiably craving what lies beyond the I". It is a way of perceiving the "fantastic reality of life" - outrageous and comical, touching, eerie, and tragic. As Baudelaire himself modestly concluded: "In general, these are the same 'Flowers of Evil', but in a more free, more detailed or more playful form". The works are presented in the translations of L. Gurevich and S. Parnok.
