Intrigues and magic collide in this epic fantasy about Sir Konrad Vonvalt, the Emperor's Justice, who is a detective, judge, and executioner in one person. The Empire of the Wolf is bubbling with excitement and turmoil. Rebels, heretics, and powerful patricians—all challenge the might of the imperial throne. These are dangerous times for the Justice. Only the Order of Magistrates stands in the way of chaos. Sir Konrad Vonvalt is the most feared judge of all, upholding the law with his sharp mind, magic, and swordsmanship. When Vonvalt and his protégé investigate a murder, they uncover a conspiracy that reaches the highest echelons of imperial society. The stakes grow higher and more personal, and Vonvalt finds himself tempted to break the law. But is even the highest goal worth such a sacrifice? A brilliant debut and a fantastic start to the series." — James A. Moore, author of "The Last Dungeon" "Remarkably detailed
