The Chronicles of the Kingdom of Pantuflia was written by Andrew Lang, a translator, historian, ethnographer, and chairman of the London Folklore Society. He certainly knew a thing or two about fairy tales, there's no doubt about that!
In "Pantuflia" there...
are princes and princesses, dragons and fairies, giants and dwarfs, feats and sorcery - all of this the author masterfully mixes and tells his tale ironically, wittily, and very humorously. An overly educated prince, who does not believe in magic, refuses to fight a dragon, because it is foolish to challenge a fictional beast. Meanwhile, another prince spends all his time traveling the world in search of a giant or a monster to measure his strength against, while his parents worry that he will fail his college exams, as he knows neither geography, nor mathematics, nor ancient languages - he actually knows nothing at all! In general, there's plenty to read, laugh about, and ponder for both children and adults.
For children aged 7-10 years.
